Hi, nice of you to click on my profile! My name is Linsey Coppens, I'm a Belgian mezzo-soprano and next to my singing career, I have a great passion for teaching voice. I give the singing lessons in Utrecht.

Classical singing for beginning and advanced singers

I am specialised in classical singing, opera and classical song repertoire. If you are a beginner or a more advanced singer with interest for this repertoire, we surely will have a lot of fun exploring together.

The foundation of singing

In order for your voice to fully blossom, to develop the high and low and to be able to sing with the desired timbre, we work on 3 major subjects within singing: posture (correct tension/relaxation), breathing and vocal technique (e.g. pitches, voice placement, timing, rhythm). But that's not all!

What else?

Important are also pronunciation of different languages, analysing the score, stage presence and acting, expression and FUN. You sing because you like it!

For me singing is...

...the best feeling on earth. Your entire body is moving and you clear your head for a moment. Singing is much more than hitting the right notes, it's about using your imagination and storytelling!

Singing is for everyone

There is no age limit for singing, but my lessons are mainly for young people and adults. Don't worry if you never had a singing lesson, are still discovering your voice or don't have a musical background, reading notes is just a bonus. Lessons are adapted to your wishes.

Location

You are welcome in my studio, near the historic center of Utrecht. I can also come to you, if prefered. If a piano or keyboard is available I can accompany you on it.

Flexibility

As a singer, it can happen that I sing abroad. Therefore lessons cannot always take place at a fixed time. This requires flexibility and open communication from both sides. Online voice lessons offer a good solution when I am abroad. With the lesson packs of 5 or 10 voice lessons you are always safe, and you will never forfeit a lesson.

About Linsey Coppens

I took my first musical steps as a chorister. I started with violin and piano lessons. At the age of 15, I took my first voice lesson. Now, many years and 2 master degrees later, singing is still number 1. I worked at the operahouse in Stuttgart between 2020 and 2023 where I performed various roles. Currently I work as a freelance singer and divide my time between opera, song and concert repertoire. I have already won several prizes at national and international singing competitions, including the 'Van Riemsdijk prijs' in the Netherlands at the 2022 edition of the IVC competition in 's-Hertogenbosch.

Linsey is an alumni of the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, Frost school of music - University of Miami and the Dutch National Opera Academy.
